If you did not have fixed internet at your dwelling when your solar or battery was installed, you may have been supplied a dedicated 4G router to provide the required internet access for your system.
In this instance, you would have been asked to source your own SIM card to provide the access.
Popular SIM cards include:
• Vodafone Pay and Go Starter Pack (180 or 365 day expiry)
• Telstra Prepaid Sim Kit (6 month expiry)
Upon installation the SIM card is registered with the provider to you personally, with your name, address and identification as required.
You would have received an activation email at the time of installation, and be kept up to date with usage and notification of pending expiration.
If your SIM has expired and you cannot recharge it, you will need to purchase a new data SIM card. Once received and activated, you can replace the SIM card in your 4G router as follows:
1. Turn the Router OFF
Press the power button, or disconnect from the mains
2. Eject the existing SIM card (if applicable)
The SIM card slot is located at the back of the router.
Press the SIM inwards and then release. This will cause the SIM to pop out enough to grip with your fingers and remove.
3. Get your SIM card ready
A Micro-SIM is required. This is the smallest size SIM currently available. Note the correct orientation of the SIM, with the trimmed corner at the top-left hand side, and the microchip facing downward.
4. Insert the replacement SIM card
Slide the SIM card into the slot, then using the tip of your finger, press firmly pushing the SIM into the main until it clicks and remains in place.
Insert the SIM into the slot Press in until the SIM clicks and remains in place
5. Turn ON the router
The router will automatically connect to the internet provided by the SIM card.
Please note it may take up to 24 hours for the SIM to become active after registration.
